Open-Brains, a new project started by BCB alumni David Bestué and Dani Duque.
Sharing knowledge is an essential task for all scientists. However, our time needs to be invested almost entirely in research, leaving virtually no room for outreach and communicating science to non-scientists in a meaningful way. Acknowledging this problem, former members of our lab Dani Duque (postdoc) and David Bestué (PhD) have braced themselves and opened a new enterprise called Open Brains (www.open-brains.com).
In an era is in which information is easily accessible but of doubtful quality, sharing with others scientific education can help them question fake news and avoid misinformation. That’s why the main aim of this project is to enhance critical thinking through real experiments and workshops, targeting both schools and companies.
Dani’s and David’s project has already received funding from Fundació Catalana de Recerca i Innovació (FCRI) and Ajuntament de Barcelona. Moreover, they were finalist in the project pitch competition held by Barcelona Activa, proving the quality and meaningfulness of their idea.
We wish both of them the best in this new career path!!
